Kathmandu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts 7 monuments and historic sites that have received recognition from UNESCO. These sites include the Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, as well as the religious temples of Swayambhu, Bouddha, Pashupati, and Changu Narayan. Pashupatinath Temple, a renowned Hindu temple, attracts millions of visitors annually. Situated on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River, this temple offers a glimpse into open public crematoriums where traditional rites and rituals take place. Here, you can also witness holy men with painted faces, dreadlocked hair, and ash-applied bodies, who are often willing to pose for pictures. Swayambhunath Temple, a 2600-year-old Buddhist Stupa, overlooks the entire Kathmandu valley and is commonly known as the Monkey Temple due to the presence of numerous monkeys. The main Stupa, ancient sculptures, temple of the child protector goddess, and monasteries are the main attractions here. Boudhanath, constructed in the 4th century, is considered one of the largest Stupas in the world. The surrounding area is reminiscent of a Tibetan village, with Tibetan monasteries dotting the landscape. Additionally, there are several painting schools where Lamas create Thanka paintings, which make for excellent souvenirs from Nepal. Patan Durbar Square, located approximately 5 km from the capital city in the district of Lalitpur, showcases a fusion of Buddhism and Hinduism. The town of Patan beautifully exhibits genuine art, architecture, culture, religion, and heritage. The houses in Patan display classic architectural designs, while intricate handwork on doors and windows adds to the aesthetic beauty of the area. Kathmandu Durbar Square, situated in the heart of old Kathmandu city, is a historic site surrounded by palaces, courtyards, and temples. Its historical significance and magnificent Newari arch make it a delightful place to visit.

Even today, important ceremonies like the coronation of the Nepalese monarch are conducted here.
During your visit, you will also have the opportunity to witness one of Nepal's most intriguing attractions, the Kumari Chowk. She is worshipped during religious festivals and occasionally makes public appearances, for which a fee is paid to her guards.
After exploring these fascinating sites, you can indulge in some shopping or enjoy a delicious lunch. Finally, you will return to your hotel, concluding your half-day local sightseeing tour.
Day 3: Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath
On the third day of your trip, you will have the opportunity to explore the rich Hindu and Buddhist cultures in Nepal. We will begin our day with a visit to Pashupatinath, a renowned Hindu temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River, just 5 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu Valley. This sacred temple is dedicated to Lord Pashupatinath and is considered one of the holiest sites in Hinduism. It is also the seat of the national deity of Nepal.
Pashupatinath Temple is a significant religious complex that has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. It is a sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, and sacred images that have been built over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati river. Here, you will have the opportunity to witness the devotion of holy saddhus as they offer prayers and perform rituals.
After exploring Pashupatinath, we will proceed to Boudhanath, the most revered Buddhist shrine in Nepal. This magnificent site is home to a large stupa, which resembles a Mandala, an esoteric geometric figure. While the architecture is predominantly Nepali, there is a strong Tibetan influence in this area. Many Tibetan refugees have made their homes around Boudhanath, creating a vibrant community. You will also find numerous monasteries surrounding the stupa.
After a fulfilling day of cultural exploration, we will return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
