Shimla serves as the capital of Himachal Pradesh, a northern Indian state nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. Once the summer capital during British rule, it is still the endpoint of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, which was completed in 1903. The city is also famous for its handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian street, and the Lakkar Bazaar, a market known for its wooden toys and crafts.

Manali is a high-altitude resort town located in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is well-known as a backpacking hub and a popular honeymoon destination. Situated along the Beas River, it serves as a gateway for skiing in the Solang Valley and trekking in the Parvati Valley. Additionally, it is an ideal starting point for paragliding, rafting, and mountaineering in the Pir Panjal mountains, which include the 4,000m-high Rohtang Pass.

In Manali, outdoor enthusiasts can partake in activities such as paragliding in Solang Valley, white-water rafting on the Beas River, and trekking to Bhrigu Lake or Hampta Pass. Cultural attractions include the Hadimba Temple, the Manu Temple, and Naggar Castle. Scenic drives to Rohtang Pass, the natural beauty of Jogni Waterfall, and relaxation by the Beas River are also available.

Shimla combines colonial charm, stunning natural landscapes, and adventure activities, making it a favored hill station getaway. Visitors can explore historical sites, shop in lively markets, enjoy breathtaking views, or engage in trekking and exciting sports. The Ridge is a spacious, open pedestrian plaza located in the city center that hosts cultural events and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. It connects to Scandal Point and Lakkar Bazaar.

Mall Road runs parallel to The Ridge and is a vibrant street bustling with activity, featuring shops, cafes, restaurants, and banks. As a no-vehicle zone, it is perfect for a leisurely walk.
